La Faille de Çınarlı

Two years after the earthquake that struck Turkey in 2023, Çınarlı, the home village of my father, Hüseyin, is slowly being rebuilt. While he stays in Paris, I travel alone to land I never knew before the disaster. Wandering through it, I meet Mustafa, 11, who lived through the earthquake first-hand. I do not know whether this event will give him, as it gave my father and so many others, a taste for exile. For my part, this fault line has awakened a need to better understand the collective history of this Alevi Kurdish community to which I am supposed to belong.
