Outside her job as a home care worker in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Muriel is learning to make bread at the kebab shop in her neighbourhood of Aubervilliers. She has dreamed of a better life since she was a child. She tells me that in the past she robbed banks to get there, but today, at 37, Muriel is putting her last hopes into opening the first kebab shop in Cape Verde, so she can settle for good in her biological parents’ country.
